About This Spot

Rivers Edge Restaurant feels like a warm embrace from a long-time neighbor—a cozy, unpretentious spot where the busyness of the outside world softly fades away the moment you step inside. Nestled along South Riverside Drive in Saukville, this breakfast haven carries a quiet, steady rhythm shaped by early risers and regulars who gather here not just for the food, but for the comfort of familiar faces and easy conversation.

The atmosphere hums with a gentle, welcoming energy. Wooden tables and mismatched coffee cups tell stories of years spent serving up hearty, honest meals without fuss or flair. There's a comforting predictability to the pace here: food arrives fresh and fast, driven by a kitchen that values quality ingredients and straightforward flavors over anything flashy. It’s the kind of place where the morning light filters softly in through windows, mingling with the rich aroma of brewing coffee and thick-cut bacon sizzling on the griddle.

At Rivers Edge, the menu is less about variety and more about delivering satisfaction with every plate. Whether it’s the playful charm of an omelet piled high with hearty fillings, fluffy pancakes dotted with fresh berries, or the nostalgic allure of biscuits and gravy, each dish feels like a small pause in the day—an act of care both in the kitchen and for those welcomed to the table. Guests lean into simple pleasures: crispy hash browns, eggs cooked just right, and unexpected gems like a slice of lemon meringue pie that carries the same homey spirit as the savory fare.

This is a place that doesn’t rush you, but moves with a deliberate kindness born from generations of quiet dedication to community and craft. Patrons return not only for the food but for the subtle warmth woven into every corner—the friendly nods from the staff who know their regulars by name, the easy buzz of neighbors sharing morning stories, the cash-only charm that feels like stepping into a beloved local ritual rather than a modern transaction.

For anyone seeking a genuine taste of Saukville’s morning life, Rivers Edge Restaurant offers a humble, heartfelt experience—one that thrives on its steady pulse of good food, honest service, and the kind of moments that linger long after the last bite is finished.

Stopped in for breakfast on our way through. The restaurant was super busy. On Saturday morning. We had the country fried steak and eggs, fresh homemade white toast. What a treat. Everything was excellent.

Highly recommend! (Heads up- this is a *cash only* restaurant, but dont let that deter you!!) Very friendly staff! Amazing Food!! They do not scimp on ingredients!! I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak Omelette with a side of hashbrowns and my husband ordered The Bushy Omelette. So Good!!

Always the best food and servers that make you feel like family! I had a Polish sausage and a chocolate chip pancake and it was delicious! All of their food is good and you'll never leave there unhappy!

This cleverly hidden little hole in the wall restaurant will blow your mind! The food is amazing. The prices are on point, but don't forget to bring cash because that's all this restaurant takes.(or checks) The smell hits you when you walk in the door! The service was rapid, the food was just as fast. The bacon looked homemade. It deserved its own review! Amazing I'll be coming back again and again! Best breakfast I've had in quite some time! Keep up the good work guys!

This is an out of the way little breakfast/lunch restaurant that has been in business for over 40 years - albeit new ownership in the last 5 years. Nothing fancy here. Just good food cooked fresh. Only open for lunch and dinner. Frequented by locals and early risers (aka farm folk) that are up at 4am. This is an old school place with a counter and tables, coffee cups that don’t match and a super friendly staff that takes great care of you. This is one of those restaurants that could be on Diners Drive Ins and Dives. Except that their menu has nothing special except great food. Excellent omelets, pancakes, biscuits & Gravy and their special eggs Benedict with a ham steak as big as your plate (I almost always get this). Have the homemade toast! I have been frequenting the RiversEdge (we call it the truck stop) for over 40 years - and although I no longer live in the area - it is a “must stop” whenever I am anywhere near Saukville WI Worth a visit. But bring cash. They don’t take credit cards.

Food is good. Service is also good and very down to earth. But definitely not. 4.8. it appears to be a local favorite and the atmosphere is also very local. Pancakes were good, we still prefer P.J. pipers for pancakes. We liked the bacon a lot. The hash browns and the eggs were also but not out of this world. The toast was quite good too. For the price it was pretty good. Cash only thank you the other reviewers. I think I would enjoy it more if the whole environment was slightly cleaner....it was definitely very down to earth and really didn't seem too clean which affected our experience.

Best small town place that exists in Ozaukee. The staff is amazing. They get to know you and remember your preferences. Foods good and the price is super fair. Love them!

Very tasty breakfast with LARGE portions! My waiter (think he was the owner) ALWAYS made sure my coffee cup was full. I never had to ask for a refill! As far as my picture of my motorcycle with my kayak? Quite fitting that I should happen to find a riverside restaurant!
